Influencer Marketing
As someone who’s entire passion for internet culture and social media has largely stemmed from my experiences watching creators, influencer relations and marketing have been a key part of my career. I consider my work intrinsically linked with creators and influencers as the backbone of all content on the internet is first innovated upon by those very creators. Case studies below.
Netflix Anime
My role with Netflix Anime was as a swiss army knife of digital and social media marketing, I was a social producer but I was also the primary influencer liaison and account manager in our partnerships. I worked with the head of anime to identify key areas in our marketing plans that would do well with a boost from influencer marketing, then collaborated with those creators to create engaging content towards that goal.
During my time with them our influencer partnerships received tens of millions of views, brought us from 150k subscribers to over 1.5 Million YouTube subscribers, and led us to the biggest launch of a new Netflix brand ever, with Netflix Geeked rolling off the back of Anime. Additionally, I credit the brand marketing and influencer partnerships work we did early on with being a major driver in why Netflix is now the number one platform to watch anime.
Fake Friend Digital
Given my success in working with nerdy and niche creators across YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms, I decided to found my own influencer marketing consultancy in 2023. Using all the skills I’ve learned over the course of my career, I identify up and coming talent in the gaming and animation niches in order to help them with their content creation pipelines, build relationships with brands, and develop their businesses. Additionally, I also work with brands looking to partner with influencers for their campaigns, where I also identify talent, connect with them, and execute on those campaigns.
I’ve worked with about 5 creators consistently over the last few years, all of them have seen audience increases, view increases, and revenue increases. Additionally, the campaigns I’ve worked on have over 20 million views and continue to generate brand marketing and high ROI on the products.
We’ve worked on all kinds of campaigns, from mobile games and internet brands like Incogni and Skillshare, to major tech brands like ASUS, and even charitable organizations like The American Heart Association. The impact left by these campaigns is a direct translation to my experience and keen eye for talent, that has successfully built these partnerships from the ground up.
Trash Taste Podcast
While my primary role with the Trash Taste podcast was as a creative producer, I am also very lucky to have seen the inner workings of an influencer management agency and what those partnerships look like from the creator’s side. This experience, as well as the collaborative time actually spent with them, has given me great insights into what makes for great partnerships as far as demographics fit, brand voice fit, and how content needs to be made in order to actually perform.
My work with Trash Taste has over 1 billion lifetime views, and has garnered hundreds of thousands in revenue for partnering brands and businesses. Additionally, I did produce, film, and post dozens upon dozens of ad reads during my time with the show, something that taught me much about what successful copy looks like, and the logistics behind partnerships work. Lastly, the creator relationships I built during my time with them are so lasting that I’ve gotten several different jobs and contracts through creators I know personally, and I’ve continued to foster these kinds of strong business relationships throughout my career.
